Aber- deen: Memorial service for Marilyn Eberhart, 63, Aber- deen, will be 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, Pastor Tom Haggar officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Eureka city cemetery, Eureka, S.D. Marilyn died Saturday, Jan. 1, at Manor Care Health Services.

Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn prefers memorials to One Mission Society, World Headquarters, P.O. Box A, Greenwood, IN 46142.

Marilyn was born on Sept. 19, 1947, in Eureka, to Ruben G. and LaVida Eberhart. This is the area where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Eureka High School with the class of 1965. She then attended Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa.

After graduating, she taught in Iowa for a year, after which she spent three years in Peace Corps in Jamaica teaching preschool teachers. Upon her return, she taught in Dupree, S.D., for a year, then moved to White Lake, S.D., for four years. She received her master's degree, then spent two years in Didsbury, Canada, as a counseling professor and women's dorm director.

Following this, she joined OMS International, Inc. (now One Mission Society) in Greenwood, Ind. She served in Malang, Java, Indonesia, as a seminary professor.

Grateful for having shared Marilyn's life are her mother, LaVida Eberhart, Aberdeen; two sisters, Delores (David) Lowell and Kathy (Rick) Woehlhaff; nieces and nephews, Traci (Joe) Hopp, David (Sam) Jundt, Jackie (Rob) Madish, Missy (Dennis) Kruthoff, Erick Woehlhaff, Krista Woehlhaff; great-nieces and nephews, Alex, Jackson, Zachary, Mitch, Trevor and Trace.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her father, Ruben G. Eberhart.

I first met Marilyn while teaching in White Lake. She was a dedicated teacher and a wonderful person. I always admired her strong faith and devotion to her Christian values. She will be missed by many.
