Not sure what to say?

I was so sorry to read about Marilyn´s death. I just sent her an email today. Marilyn was my mentor when I started at the AAMC as Director of the Women in Medicine Program in 1976 when only 5 percent of the entering class were women. Much of the progress that has been made in the last 50 years can be attributed to Marilyn´s leadership. I will never forget her and either should the WIM community. A true pioneer indeed..... Dr Heins, Thanks for answering my question in the Az Daily Star about why escalating violence doesn't end well and offering that 'big people don't hit little people.' I have repeated that saying many times. With great respect. RB

I´m so sorry to learn Dr. Heins has died. I met her through volunteer work and heard her speak several times. A great loss for our community.

I never worked directly with Dr. Heins, but she was known throughout the College of Medicine as a kind, compassionate person who always had useful advice for parents and their children. We were grateful and extremely fortunate to have her as one of our colleagues.

When struggling with my 2-year-old son years ago, Marilyn said to me: " Just remember, you are the parent and he is the child." Best advice ever! She was an inspiration, a friend, and a true treasure. She will be missed by many. May her memory be a blessing.

Thank you for always responding to any inquiry I had. Rest in peace.

Marilyn was a compassionate and wise colleague and friend whose impact will not be forgotten.

I am so sorry to hear about Marilyn's death. It was an honor for me to be council chair at the University of Arizona Humanities Seminars when we presented her with a lifetime achievement award for contributions and love of the program.
