Marilyn was the most influential person on me at a time when I most needed it. I was a graphic design student of Mrs. Holsinger at the University of Missouri from 1980-1984. She was a wonderful person and teacher. (Mr. Berry was also a professor of mine.) My love of calligraphy was instilled by Mrs. Holsinger. I still remember receiving a telegram from her on my wedding day in Hermann MO when she couldn't attend. Classy. My love for hand-lettering and my career in graphic design began thanks to Marilyn! In 1979, I had the good fortune of taking her calligraphy class and later she hired me to work with her at OSU's Publication Office. She was a marvelous teacher, mentor, and friend. The stories she told about her beginnings in advertising, makes me think the TV show "Mad Men" isn't too far from the truth! Rest in peace, dear Marilyn.

What great times my mother, Eleanor, and Marilyn had together into their 80s. Many laughs generated. And as my sister-in-law, June, has pointed out, who is going to correct our '4s' with Marilyn gone?

My husband William Beryy hired Marilyn to,teach at Univ. Pf Missouri. We visited with her once after she retired and moved to Portland. I knew nothing of her earlier life until I read the obituary, but I respected her as an artist and as a person and send condolences to the family.
