Marilyn B. Perry
Marilyn Blies Perry, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Kure Beach which she shared with her daughter, Elaine, on Friday, January 19, 2018.
She was born December 13, 1932 in Buffalo, NY, daughter of the late Stephen and Agnes Blies. Her loving husband, George W. Perry, and young daughter, Melissa Perry, preceded her in death.
Marilyn was a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother who thoroughly enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, and singing in the choir. She was a gifted seamstress who stayed busy sewing dresses, prom gowns, suits, and wedding gowns for family and community socialites. Marilyn and George enjoyed visiting family and taking cruises with friends and traveling to distant places.
She is survived by eight children; son, Stephen Perry (Vickie) of McDonough, GA; seven daughters, Suzan Perry, Mary Elizabeth Hamalainen (Steve), Anita Rhodes (Wayne), Theresa Perry, Johanna Gooding (Sam), and Barbara Pink (Robert), all of Wilmington, and Elaine Guyton of Kure Beach, NC; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Nancy Perry Zimmerman (Steve), Franny Duval, Jean Jordan, and Ellen Shalloe.
Special thanks to her daughter, Elaine, for her passionate, physical, emotional and spiritual care of Marilyn and for all of the caregivers that helped her in so many ways.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Andrews Valley Chapel with Rev. John McGee officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. The interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. the following day, Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Wilmington National Cemetery.
