Dr. Marilyn Anne Rice

Marilyn is still often in my thoughts. She was an joyful mentor and source of encouragement during my time with REACH, her most profound legacy. The power of her work with students will continue.

Dr. Rice was one of my teachers at REACH, and my time with her was some of the most impactful and meaningful in my life. I remember Dr. Rice as a wonderful teacher that introduced me to the world of formal logic and compassionate critical thinking. She would take the time to read something written in an essay or assignment, and call over a student to talk with them about a matured version of their thought that she seemed honestly interested in... even if the seed was something silly and...

Marilyn was an instrumental mentor to me in my exciting years in REACH. I was always inspired by her desire to go deeper into a subject and her attention to detail. She graciously presented me with a poem I had written for my mother´s funeral which Marilyn had done in her beautiful calligraphy. She was so generous with her time and talents. I know her energy and spirit will find another powerful and kind expression. Lee Lorber
