Lake Cumberland Funeral Home - Somerset Obituary

Marilyn Tanner, age 93 of Somerset, KY, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 under Hospice Care at Somerset Nursing and Rehab.


Marilyn was born on October 11, 1930 in Somerset, KY to the late Raymond Nichols and Lena Sears Nichols.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church.  Marilyn enjoyed painting, antiques, fixing dolls and spending time with her family.  


She is survived by four sons, David (Donna) Tanner of Somerset, Terry (Anne) Tanner of Porter, TX, William Thomas Tanner (Tony) of Stanford and John Paul (Karen) Tanner of Louisville; one brother, Tom (Henrietta) Nichols of Somerset; two sisters, Linda (Larry) VanHook of Somerset and Faye (Jimmy) Fisher of Somerset; one sister-in-law, Wanda Nichols of Somerset; seven grandchildren, Brandi (Carl) Mooney, Summer (Lynn) Lowery, Jonathan Tanner, Miles (Lilia) Tanner, Charles (Tate) Tanner, Lydia Tanner (Courtnee) and Kaylen Harrison; eight great grandchildren, Arabella Lowery, Zoie Lowery, Natalie Tanner, Matthew Tanner, Beckett Tanner, DeClan Tanner, Journey Brown and Amiyah Glover; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.


Along with her parents she was preceded in death by husband, William “Bill” Tanner, whom she married on April 10, 1949 and he preceded her on February 20, 1991; one brother, Larry Nichols; and two sisters, Janet (Norman) Hagley and Deegee Stephens and one sister-in-law, Francis Muse.


Visitation will be on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.  


The family requests donations be made to the Tanner Cemetery Fund in memory of Marilyn Tanner.

Marilyn was a very sweet and kindhearted lady from a wonderful family. I enjoyed caring for her mother, brother and sister over the years and cisiting her at home before she went into the Rehab Center. Prayers with family.
