I met Marina on the 100th anniversary of her father's (János Neumann) birth date, in 2003, at the Centenary Session held at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest, where she dedicated her father's famous book: The Computer and the Brain. After that, we corresponded quite frequently until March 6, 2025. Since she did not respond to my letter of birthday wishes, I felt that the end was near. I bless the Almighty for giving her such a beautiful, meaningful, long life. I am sure that she...

Marina was such a positive and strong role model for women. She broke many societal barriers, and had an amazing career. I had the privilege of working with Marina at the Ford School for many years. I remember fondly many great conversations about work/finance/admin but also life, and her kids/grandkids whom she was so proud of. My sincerest condolences on the loss of this great lady.

Marina von Neumann Whitman was a towering intellect and a trailblazer whose presence left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. I had the honor of meeting Marina during my tenure as President of the Board at Allen Creek Preschool, where her wisdom, grace, and quiet strength stood out even in casual conversation. She was a groundbreaking economist and policy leader in her own right. Marina carried both a brilliant legacy and a fiercely independent mind. She navigated...

I had the honor of assisting Bib and Marina with design work for their Ann At or home. It was indeed my pleasure to know both. My sincere condolences and for the loss of Laura as well. Most sincerely. Linda Klenczar

Marina and Bob put on the best party of the year--a "Welcome to Spring" event that typically came when it felt more like winter outside. Great food, great company, and great hospitality. One memorable year there was a power failure, and they had to found up a lot of candles for us to see our ways around. It made for a charming atmosphere. The next year there was a whiff of disappointment that the Whitmans went back to using electric lights. I miss them both.

Marina and Bob were wonderful, close friends and "across the street neighbors" for many years in Ann Arbor. We watched Laura and Malcolm grow up. Regular Sunday morning tennis partners. Dinners together. Sharing recipes and good wine. Long talks about many subjects. I once loaned Marina a pretty substantial book about 6 pm one evening. She returned it the next morning saying how much she had enjoyed reading it. An amazing mind. Summer Sunday afternoons at their swimming pool. Warm memories of...

I was the reporter at United Press International who first interviewed Dr. Whitman in 1972 on the occasion of her appointment to the President's Council of Economic Advisers---in the back seat of a limo that was whisking her from the University of Pittsburgh to Greater Pgh. Airport, where she was to catch a flight to Washington, D.C., and then, of course, to the White House. I remember her as cordial, affable, and remarkably responsive. Condolences to her loved ones who, I'm certain,...
