As a youngster, growing up in St. Hugh's Parish, I knew Mr. Marques [and Mrs. Marques] through the church. As an altar boy, Mr. & Mrs. Marques were regular church goers, as well as being involved in Parish activities. As Steve and I were attending St. Hugh's School, I always admired Mr. Marques as the type of father/adult I might hope to become later in life. He was dignified, reserved, and certainly cerebral. A man that appeared to me as a young person to personify what a devoted husband and father should be. As I aged and became a father myself, I had the privilege of playing poker in a neighborhood game that he periodically attended. Through and through he was a fine man who led a family and church centered life. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Marques family at this most difficult time. Sadly, due to other commitments on Monday, I will be unable to attend service. To Steve and the entire family, please know I will be there in spirit. Please accept my condolences.
