Not sure what to say?

I am very lucky to have met and worked with a hero. Mario tirelessly taught us (teachers and parents) at Victory on how to save our school from injustice. Mario empowered us. I admired his vigilance and intellect. If all of us (UTLA members) can have an ounce of his activism and energy we would do very well.

Thank you for your life, Mario. I will miss you.

For the Vazquez Family, thank you for sharing him with us.

Yours truly,
Marissa Cutaran-Vickers

Mario will always be remembered for his passionate commitment to improving and advancing human rights, preserving dignity and instilling in others the power to make a change and a difference in this world. He always greeted you with his signature big smile and warm welcome whenever you saw him. I am sorry for the family's loss but also for his loss to the world.

Mario's passing leaves not only a hole in our heart, but also in the progressive movement in Los Angeles. He will be dearly missed. Condolences to the entire Vazquez family from Jan Goodman and Jerry Manpearl.

I remember you as so completely and fully committed, wonderfully intense, with total clarity in your beliefs. I remember having raging debates with you that took place over weeks about some minute detail of philosophy. I remember Cuba. I remember PCL. I remember CASA. And so much more. You truly manifested a warrior spirit for all who were subject to oppression. What a legacy you have left. Well done old "Compa," well done.
