Marion Anderson Born the 30th of December, 1924 in Ryder, North Dakota to Lial and Adeline Peterson, Marion Anderson was the 2nd child in a loving family of 2 girls, Marion and Ellen and 4 boys: Wallace, Gene, Wayne, and Merle. In a double wedding on July 14th, 1941, Marion wed her true love, LaVurne Anderson while Marion's brother Wallace wed his true love, LaVurne's sister Ethel in Sydney, Montana. Throughout World War 2, LaVurne found himself working in the Vancouver ship yards prior to the couple returning to Minot, North Dakota, where they lived happily for 23 years, raising their beautiful family. Once their family was grown, they returned to Vancouver to join Wallace, Ethel, and their family once more. Marion was the mother of 9 children: Joan, Jerry, Michael, Mary, James, Cynthia, David, Steven, and Brian. She was grandmother to 18 grandchildren, and great grandmother to 21 great grandchildren. Those blessed enough to know Marion throughout her life all know that she truly was a mother to anyone whose lives were touched by her presence. Marion came from a family built on love and continued that tradition throughout her own life. She had many hobbies including shuffleboard that resulted tournaments, which she would more than likely win. But what she truly lived for was her family. Having everyone together to play cards, dance, cook, and enjoy the children in the home that she had made was what made her truly happy. Anyone that needed help or just wanted someone to talk to knew that Marion's doors were always open. Marion Anderson passed away peacefully on October 5th, 2010 to join her husband Lavurne and her daughter Joan, and daughters-in-law Mona and Heather who preceded her in death. She enjoyed life all the way to the end and we are all truly blessed to have known her.
