Marion Lorraine Schauer, a 57 year resident of Eastpointe, died suddenly early Saturday morning in the emergency room of St. Joseph Medical Center in Clinton Twp. She was 88 years of age.

Marion was born in Detroit on October 26, 1918, a daughter of Edwin and Matilda (Dryer) Gerlach. She was united in marriage to her late husband, John G. Schauer on October 1, 1938 in St. Mark Lutheran Church of Detroit. The couple made their home in Detroit until moving to Eastpointe in 1947. The couple were active members of St. Peter Lutheran Church since that time. She served with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lutheran Fraternity Americans and with the Ladies Aid of St. Peters. She enjoyed the Senior Citizens Club of Eastpointe, enjoyed gardening with her husband and was known for her love of baking, making special cookies for each of her family, and her rhubarb pie. Above all she always put her family first and will be deeply missed by many.

Marion is survived by her loving daughters, Janet Hamilton, Ilene (Larry) Boman and Karen (Jim) Peckham; her grandchildren, Susan (Paul), Scott (Jojean), Amy (Brian), Julie (Ryan), Joseph (Alicia), and Andrew; grea t-grandchildren, Alyssa, Jonathan, Joshua, Garon, Ryan, Kayla, Nicholas, Corbin, and Ariana. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John in September of this year and by a brother, Marvin Gerlach.

A funeral service will be held at St.Peter Lutheran Church of Eastpointe, Wednesday at 11am. Visitation will be held at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Rd., Fraser, Tuesday from 2pm till 9pm and at the church Wednesday from 10:30am till time of services.
