ECKER, Marjorie J. - Of Flint, age 76, died Thursday, March 13, 2003 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM Monday, March 17, 2003 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road in Burton, Father William F. Wegher officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Holy Redeemer Educational Fund. Visitation 1-9PM Saturday and Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A memorial service will be conducted by the Knights of Columbus Council #10170 at 6:30PM followed by a scripture service at 7PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. Marjorie will be at the church from 10AM Monday until the time of the Mass. She was born in Bourbon, Indiana on December 11, 1926 and was a resident of Flint most of her life. She married Edward S. Ecker on July 30, 1949 in Angola, Indiana and they had been married for 53 years. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Surviving are husband, Edward; daughter, Catherine Ecker of Flint; 2 sons, Edward "Denny" of Grand Blanc and Matthew of Chicago, Illinois; 2 grandchildren, Joshua and Kyle; 2 sisters, Norma and husband Shike Strabel, Betty and husband Claude Smith, all of Flint; brother, Robert Dinius of Flint; aunt, Hazel and husband Maurice Vanderboss of Dunlap, Illinois; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Michael, on August 20, 1989. Special thank you to her doctors, McLaren nurses on the 11th and 12th floors and In-Hospital Hospice for all their support.
