May God bless you and your...

As I sit so here melancholy
My mind goes back to long ago
A simpler time, when life was jolly
A happy life, I used to know
Morning sun on the window sill
A song in the kitchen, from Mama’s hum
Out to the well, the bucket to fill
Helping with chores before the day begun
Lazy days of summer, under the shade tree
Rosy cheeks and noses from the cold
Stumped toes and scraps on the knee
So happy a life in those days of old
