I to had Miss Grunewalder as my 1st grade teacher, Valerie, she was truly a treasurer to one and all of er students. I had recently been diagnosed as have muscular dystrophy and their was great debated as to whether I should continue in public school or "special ed" , which in those days none existing. Following our 50th high school reunion, one of our classmates posted Ms Grunewalder's obituary. I remember her fondly. She was my first grade teacher at Florence Ave. School in 1957-1958. She was so kind and soft spoken. I especially remember her reading a psalm each morning following our pledge of allegiance. She had her favorites and I am sure we all had them memorized.
