Marjorie J. Henderson, age 73 of Godfrey, Illinois died Friday, March 19, 2004, 9:35 a.m. at her residence. Born December 4, 1930 in Collinsville, Illinois , she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lillian (nee: Smith) Nolan. She married S.G.M.(Ret.) Paul K. Shaffer, Sr. He died in 1981. She later married SK1 (Ret.) Charles R. Henderson who died in 1999. A member of the Catholic Faith, she was devoted to her family, volunteering and assisting others at Veterans Hospitals and with activities at Veterans of Foreign Wars Alton Post #1308, where she was a member of the Ladies Auxillary, a member of Moose Lodge Alton #951, and the Ladybugs Piasa Circle. She is survived and will be greatly missed by: A Son and Daughter in law: Paul K. Shaffer,Jr.and wife Ana of Brandon, Florida 3 Daughters and a Son in law: Sue Ellen Williamson of Godfrey, Tamara Lynn and Rodney Beckett of Yuma, Arizona, Ursula Ann Shaffer of Godfrey, 8 Grandchildren: Sheila Mamon of Dallas,Tx., A1C Daniel Beckett & wife Jessica of Satellite Beach, Florida, Abraham Rezex & wife Pam of St. Peters, MO., Aristides Rezex of Alton,IL., Thais Shaffer of Tallahassee, Florida, Breeanne Williamson of ALton,IL., Rachel Angelsberg of Godfrey, IL., Sarah Shaffer of Houston, TX., 3 Great-Grandchildren: Gabriella, Isabella, Robert Rezex. A Daughter in law: Emily Shaffer of Houston,Texas, A Sister: Shirley Henderson of Mason, Ohio, A Half Sister: Opal Blackwell of Clarksville,Tennessee, extended family and many friends. also preceded in death by 2 sons: Scott Samuel Shaffer and Bruce Edward Shaffer. VISITATION will be Monday, March 22, 2004, 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at STATEN-FINE FUNERAL HOME, 220 Court Street in Alton, where services honoring her life will be Tuesday, March 23, 2004, 10:00 a.m. with Father Roger Schoenhofen, O.M.I. officiating. The Ladies Auxillary of V.F.W. Alton Post #1308 will conduct a ritual service Monday 6:00 p.m. Interment will be in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. For those desiring, memorials may be made to: the Ladies Auxillary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Alton Post #1308, or to the Cancer Aid and Research Fund in care of the V.F.W. Alton Post #1308.
