Mark Wallace Alison

Mark Allison was my English teacher at Highland Park High School and the best teacher I ever had. He brought out the best in me and gave me the confidence I needed to be successful. Mark was my high school English teacher for two years in the 60´s. We stayed in contact since then. He and Helen were very special people. He will be missed, but I have many letters and memories to remind me of him.

I just learned Mark is gone. He was an inspiration to me since I met him in my senior year of high school in 1969. I never took a class with him but we remained friends by mail the rest of his life. Every year I would get a note from him on my birthday, just checking in. I will miss that knowing that an important part of my life has passed. Birthdays will never be the same.

I only knew Mark for a short period of time and we met by chance while he letting out his dog. Always a friendly wave and a kind exchange as I entered or exited the neighborhood. He helped me out a couple times when I needed a ride and I always wanted to return the favor or do something kind for him in return. We were decades apart in age but it didn't matter. I'll miss conversations with him. Would love to attend his celebration of life.
