Mark L. Balen

Mark was my colleague with the BPS and he introduced a number of valued programs at Seneca. He was a true leader and friend.

Condolences to the Balen family. Our fathers were longtime friends when the city was growing. Lackawanna was better with Mr. Balen being a lifelong public servant. Bob Tutko, on behalf of the Tutko family

Mark L. Balen was my hero as my teacher, my councilman, my mayor, my principal, my superintendent but most of all as my friend. Throughout my youth and my career, he was like a godfather to me and I will forever be grateful for his friendship and advice.

Tommy, We so recently got together and talked of Mark. I am sorry that his passing will leave you as the last sibling to be the patriarch of your family. But after getting a chance to chat again after so long,I am so sure you are the person to share the memories and keep your siblings alive for all! You and yours are in my prayers.
