In honor of Mark and his love of sports, the family asks that you come wearing MSU or Detroit apparel. Go Green!

Mark was born in White Pine, Michigan on October 1, 1963, the son of David Bednar and Cecilia (Arthur) Randall. On October 17, 1992, Mark married the love of his life, Donna Monville in Bay City. Mark graduated from Bangor John Glenn High School in Bay City and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University in 1986. If you knew Mark, you knew his love and dedication to his Alma-Mater, Michigan State, especially their sport teams. He was passionate about all sports and used that passion to make a difference in his community by being a major part in starting and running football and baseball youth programs. He played and coached several sports over his lifetime. He coached for over 25 years, umpired, announced, maintained the fields, and spent countless hours watching and analyzing various games. You could often find him listening to one of his over 700 CDs from all genres; he was an avid music lover. He and Donna enjoyed their yearly trips to Traverse City visiting the wineries and amazing fall colors. Most of all, he spent all the time he could with his family and his grandchildren.

Surviving are wife, Donna;
daughter, Brooke (Thomas) Hollandsworth;
son, Brandon;
father, David Bednar and Sandi Laskin;
mother-in-law and father-in-law, Grace (Walt) Monville;

Not sure what to say?

What incredibly sad news to hear of Mark's passing. I remember Mark as being smart and well liked. May God comfort those who knew him and are mourning his loss. Billy Joel was right on this one... "Only the good die young."

I am shocked and saddened by this news. I worked with Mark in media going back 20+ years ago. He was a true professional and always fun to work with. We remained friends long after we stopped working together. We shared a passion for college football and I always heard from him whenever State won a big game! He always bragged about his family. He was so proud of Donna and the kids. They were the lives of his life! He was a great man and will be very missed.

I am very sorry for your loss. Mark was a great man and will be missed dearly. My condolences for the family.

Mark was a wonderful person. I was so honored to be his Director at Rocket Mortgage over the past couple years. He was kind and funny and friendly. He always talked about his family with a smile and he will be dearly missed.

Mark was my boss at Valassis. I loved working with him. He was kind caring and great. My prayers are with your family, as I know how much he loved you all. He always talked about you fondly with a smile on his face.

Mark was a good man and has left us too soon. I worked him in Boston and Colorado Springs and I don't think the residents of those states truly appreciated Mark's taste in sports teams!! I remember a few lively games of Pictionary with him, too. He will be missed.

Mark was an amazing co-worker. We would always Joke and always conversated when it came to the work we did together. Mark will truly be missed. May you RIP my friend! Sending love and prayers to the entire family.

I worked with Mark for many years at Valassis. He was always so sweet to my kids when they would come to work. He would let them sit at his desk and give them money for treats. My kids thought he was the best boss ever! He loved his family so much and would talk about Brooke and Brandon daily. I am so sorry for your loss. Keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers.
