A friend brought Mark's obituary to my attention a few months ago, but I only came across this site today. Mark and I were roommates my senior year (1962-1963), living in our first (basement) apartment away from our parents. We had lots of adventures together, including sleeping on a Provincetown beach. Once we had a party that filled every square inch, so we left for a walk to get some air. When we came back, people were hesitant to let us in, demanding to know who we were.

Julie and Maddie, I just heard about Mark's death and am so very sorry. He was a wonderful neighbor to us, both when I was a child, and when I was grown up with children of my own, and since I have moved I have thought of him and you often.

Dear Julie and Maddy, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. Mark and I were friends along time ago and he profoundly affected my life and my thinking. "Gotz" was a spectacular person, a man of extremes, and a great artist. This is such sad news.
