Mark Christopher Hewitt

Chris was a friend from the fourth grade on. He lived a short distance away and we often were over at each other's house. He was a genius musician, brilliant, and crazy creative. He was always passionate about his music and his enthusiasm was contagious. I lost track of him about 1978 but I thought of him frequently. Sadly, I only just found out about his passing this weekend.

I went to Jesuit HS with Chris and can never forget his hilarious, self-deprecating sense of humor, coupled with great talent. I have a crazy sketch in my yearbook he drew - of the "Blind Fool" - a legendary figure that morphed out of "Maggie Mae" lyrics ...

Even in junior high we knew "Luther" was destined to succeed in music.I don't remember why he told us to call him Luther, but that was his nickname.I do remember when he finally had enough money to buy an electric piano, he was so excited, he called the operator, and said " I finally got an electric piano! I just wanted to tell somebody, thanks" He will be greatly missed
