New London - Mark Steven Holeman, 67, of New London, passed away Sept. 2, 2023, in New London. He was born Dec. 3, 1955, in New London. Mark had dedicated his career to honing his skills as a plumber with the UA Local 777, and he was known throughout the community as an all-around handyman who could fix anything that came his way.

Mark was a man of exceptional character, with a quick wit and a kind heart. His sense of humor brought joy to those around him, and his genuine kindness and willingness to help others made him a true friend to many. Mark's positive impact was felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Family was of utmost importance to Mark. He is survived by his loving partner, Jeanne Williams; his ex-wife Catherine Lewis; and his children: Mark Adams, Jeffrey Adams, Lizabeth McNair, Marko Holeman, Matthew Holeman, Ashley Holeman and Alex Ayala-Douchette. He is also survived by his sisters, Sharon Holeman and Julie Drayton; and his cherished grandchildren: Max, Sydnie, Jayden, Linda, Jessica, Lanah, Mason, Bryce, Zi, Cameron, Maliyah, Mylah, Mateo, Jayce, and Rai. Mark was preceded in death by his father Wallace Holeman Sr.; his mother Marion Holeman; his brother Wallace Holeman Jr.; his brother Darrell Holeman; his brother Steward Holeman; his sister Marsha Fussel; and his sister Denise McGuire. Although Mark is no longer with us, his memory will forever be cherished by his family.

Mark's dedication to his education was evident throughout his life. He attended and graduated from New London High School, and he understood the value of learning and personal growth. Beyond his professional endeavors, Mark found immense joy in pursuing his hobbies. He was a passionate golfer, finding solace and tranquility on the green. He also had a deep love for fishing, spending countless hours casting his line and enjoying the serene beauty of the water. Above all, Mark was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, cheering them on with unwavering loyalty.

Mark's faith played a significant role in his life. As a trustee at Groton Heights Baptist Church, he found solace, strength, and a community that uplifted him. His commitment to his place of worship was a testament to his unwavering belief and dedication to his spiritual journey.

A service to honor and remember Mark's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Groton Heights Baptist Church, located at 72 Broad Street, Groton. Following the service, Mark will be laid to rest in Jordan Cemetery, Waterford. Friends and relatives are invited to gather and pay their respects from 10 a.m. until the start of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Mark's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Special Olympics. These organizations were close to Mark's heart, and your contributions will help support the causes he held dear. Byles Memorial Home, New London, is assisting the family.

Today, we bid farewell to Mark Holeman, a devoted partner, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His legacy of love, laughter and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of being touched by his presence. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Marko and family - our deepest condolences. Joe and Colleen

My deepest sympathy to the Holman family. Mark, you will be sorely missed by all of your friends at Pequot Golf Course. You always brought a smile to everyone's faces ( unless you three putted!) May all of your greens and fairways be perfect in heaven as St. Peter welcomes their newest member. God speed my friend!
