Mark “Mickey” Richard Stephen Lanier age 68 of Weare, NH passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Concord Hospital after a short illness. Mark was born in Lowell, MA on September 12,1954 to Alfred and Ruth (Levy) Lanier. He attended St. Louis School and grew up in the Centralville area. He married Joyce (Googins) Lanier on December 15, 1973 in Lowell, MA.
Mark had a natural ability of fixing things which led him to his career in the automotive industry. It started in High School when he got a job at George’s Gulf in Lowell and started working on cars. He then worked for Norm Martin where he learned his speciality in transmission repair. He spent many years working in the field owning several businesses until retiring at Lanier's Transmission Repair in the year 2000. After selling his business he started flipping houses as an entrepreneur and real estate investor. In his final years he worked for student transportation at Weare public schools and as a custodian at Kearsarge Elementary school.
Mark was a devoted husband and father to his two children until the very end. He loved spending time with his family and friends and entertaining with his wife Joyce. He enjoyed traveling and visited many states driving across the country. Later in life he treasured his time being a Papa to his two grandchildren by attending their sports games and scouting events. Mark had an infectious smile and laugh that would light up a room. He made lifelong friends in every stage of his life and will be remembered by many for his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Ruth Lanier. He is survived by his wife Joyce Lanier of almost 50 years, his son Scott Lanier and wife Marsha Lanier of Weare, NH, his daughter Carrie Cokely of Manchester, NH, two grandsons Miles Lanier and Benjamin Lanier of Weare, NH, His brother Paul Lanier and wife Susan Lanier of Dracut,MA, their children Corey Lanier and wife Anna Lanier of Austin, TX,and Courteney Lanier, Nick Lanier of Dracut, MA. He is also survived by many cousins and relatives who were more like siblings to him growing up.
A celebration of life will be held on May 4th, 2023 from 2-4pm at Waters Funeral Home 50 S Main St Concord, New Hampshire.
