Not sure what to say?

I can't believe I never met him, but he is my family and I know he cared about all of us as we all care about him and his legacy. Every railroad is proof that he has made an impact, but his humanity leaves marks of kindness well beyond the train tracks. A great person indeed, and I hope all reading this may know how appreciated he is.

So long, friend. I expect to see you again. You have been in my thoughts many times through all these years since I left Millburn, although unfortunately I did not keep in touch. I learned about this just now when I finally tried to reconnect with Mark. My deepest sympathy to Beth and Ellen. Godspeed. --Peter

Beth and Family, I am so sorry that Mark passed away. My Brother Doug and I met Mark in 1974. I was 15 and Doug was 13 and we would ride the train every Friday from Murray Hill to Gladstone. Mark was the Brakeman on the return train. He always found time to talk with us and patiently answer our many questions about the railroad. We both went on to work on the railroad and I remember it would make my day to exchange waves with Mark when our trains passed at the MMC. Mark, thank you for...

I just found out about Mark's passing, and I am very sorry to hear that. We were "railroad buddies" in high school back in the 60s, and we had lots of fun watching those trains rumble through Millburn. My best wishes to Beth.

While attending our 50th Millburn High School reunion I was told by Mark's cousin Bobby Arlein that Mark had died. How sad. What a kind spirit indeed. I was Mark's neighbor across the street as we were all growing up. Wish we had been nicer to him but kids can say mean things indeed. I apologized to Mark much later in life and he was gracious with that lovely smile of his. Fond memories indeed...John Fischer formerly 27 Undercliff Rd. Millburn NJ...now Washington State

We miss you, Mark, and will always treasure and dearly miss the wonderful times, laughs, and dinners we shared. Please know that you, Beth, and your family are always in our thoughts and prayers.

I have happy memories of this amazingly sweet natured guy. We met through mutual friends & I remember how pleased I was when intoroduced to the lovely Beth at Fran's baby shower. My condolences to his family and close friends. Denise Campione

Sincere condolences to all of Mark's family and many friends - may the Peace and Comfort of God be with all of you. A finer person or railroader never existed. Mark was a great mentor and excellent example to myself nearly 30 years ago -as well as everyone in his world before & since. We all learned from his professional & pleasant ways. His passing is this world's loss; if more people were like Mark in their ways, this world would certainly be a better place.
Shalom, brother -...
