Mark volunteering at the homeless shelter kitchen

One Saturday Morning Mark showed up in the Shalom Center's homeless shelter kitchen offering to volunteer. No one knew who he was and when he said he thought me might want to help in the kitchen, we thought he wanted to volunteer to wash dishes. He said he could cook a little so we let him help. We soon found out what an expert in the kitchen he was. Mark continued his quiet, unassuming role of cooking breakfast and prepping dinner every Saturday and Sunday morning in our homeless shelter...

My prayers are with you all. So sorry to hear this, he always had a smile and a warm hello for me at the hospital. I will miss him. God bless his family in this time of sorrow.

Our deepest sympathy for your family's loss of a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Tom & Vickie Hessefort

I am so sorry for your loss. Praying for God's comfort for you and your family. Wanda Castelli

Everyone looked forward to lunch at the hospital because of the culinary expertise that Mark pleasured us with. Not only did he draw a crowd from hospital personnel, he had a crowd of people from outside the hospital family. He turned the cafeteria food into a five star restaurant. But most of all I loved his personality. He had a warm soul. I will miss him dearly and wish him peace.

I was lucky enough to know Mark inside and outside of work. Such a kind and talented man. My deepest condolences to the family. Mark will be missed by many.

In loving memory of a wonderful, thoughtful man & great neighbor. May God Bless you & your family.
