Not sure what to say?

I know this is late but I met Mark & Barbara in Carmel through our dear friend Eunice Jenkins, who visited us in Morgan Hill Ca for several years. She was a teacher and became Head Mistress of Elmhurst Ballet School in England where I attended in the `50´s. She always spoke so kindly of them and the girls who were younger than me and who I never met. Their home was a little masterpiece and they were so welcoming.

He designed an adobe house in Carmel Valley for the Arboleda family. It was so beautiful that in the 1960s it was featured in the Monterey Peninsula Herald. I lived in that house. I am Gisela Arboleda. Mr. Mills was a genius at interpreting his clients’ ideas and lifestyle.

We were all saddened to hear of Mark’s passing. We feel so fortunate that we live in two of his masterpieces. We are also grateful for his friendship and for having celebrated St. Paddy’s Day 2007 with him and Barbara. We think of you both and your daughters often and remember all of you in our prayers.

My husband and I own a beautiful home near Yosemite that Mr. Mills designed in the late 70s for the Hackbarths of Carmel. The moment I stepped into this house, I felt a connection to the architect even though I did not know his name. His art can be felt in every room and around every corner.
I came to find the original plans and eventually contacted Mr. Mills and spoke with him briefly.
He was very happy to recall the memories of that time with me. I feel very fortunate to have had...

> My dear Mark,
> I thank God for having crossed your life-path. It was a keen source of joy for me. Your warmth, your smile, your humour and humility were messages for me of God's love. I am keen to see your smile again when we shall meet in heaven.
> God bless Barbara and your daughters. Your prayers will help them to support the loss and will strengthen their hope to meet you where at the end all the tears will be dried out.

A huge loss with his passing, but he has left vision and inspiration that will last forever. Condolences to his family.

On behalf of all Emerging Professionals of the northern California region of the American Institute of Architecture California Council, we wish to extend our condolences to his friends and family.

Though not a member of the local AIA, the chapter recognized the talent and wonderful contribution he made to the profession. His legacy will be the expanse of work from which the next generation of architects may find their inspiration.

Mark was a great inspiration to all those who had the honor to know him.
