Mark was a true neighbor and friend. Always setting the example of loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. I will miss all of our neighborhood gatherings with him at the grill, making us laugh.
I will miss our deep conversations about education and the environment. Mark was such a historian and excited about current politics.
He cared deeply for those he loved and was in a word, passionate.
We are better people for knowing him. Mark was a rare gem.

Jennifer and I (well our parents) would carpool us to school every other day. When I would walk across the street to their house, Mark would be sitting at the table next to Molly in her high chair. I remember him always being nice and I will hold that with me. I am so incredibly sorry for this loss and I will continue to keep your family lifted in prayer.

Chille I’m so sorry for your loss. From reading Mark’s obituary he was a kind and thoughtful man. There are no words I can write that will ease your heartache but know there are many of us keeping you and your family in our prayers❤

When my wife, Anna Lumsden, and I first moved to Syracuse, Mark and Chelle were our first neighbors here. They welcomed us warmly, and helped us to make our lives here. Mark was a font of wisdom, bonhomie, mischief, and warmth. He was an excellent father and husband. He was quick to make you a beverage. Were it not for Mark and Chelle’s acting as our local family, I doubt we’d have stayed to raise our three daughters here. I’ll miss the conversations we didn’t have a chance to have on his...

Mark and I were both Druids and although we had lost touch, his presence never left me. He was the most compassionate person I knew in college. His passionate compassion was not just about politics or the environment but extended to everyone he met and folks he didn’t even meet but felt sorry for. After reading his obit, it is clear he carried that trait through his life devoting himself to making the world a better place. Undoubtedly, he’ll be badly missed by those who loved him. We were...
