It was yesterday that I learned of Mark's passing. Tears filled my eyes as my mom showed me the newspaper. Mr. Norton was truly a sweet teacher. I believe the class 79 might of been his first middle school students. I always thought I'd get back to the middle school and thank you. It didn't happen. So here I will type the words. Thank you for caring. Thank you for the humor and the smiles.
Peace to your family.

Mr. Norton was one of my teachers at BEMS. He always made learning fun. He was a teacher who really cared about his students. I don't remember what year he started teaching he was very young when I was in school (I Graduated in 1981). I only knew Mark as Birdman from his blog but grew to like him instantly. He would bring things up that would remind me of things that happened to me when my dad was stationed at Loring A. F. B. outside of Caribou. I admired him for his wit and humor. May he do and be just as great in his next life.

I knew Mark as Birdman and I shortened it to Bird early on as we were blog friends for many years. I will miss him...

My sincere and deepest sympathies to Mrs. Norton and family.
I was actually a student of Mrs. Norton's from '73 through '76.
To know that someone who had such a profound effect on my life has suffered a terrible loss, causes me great sadness.
May you find comfort in the people closest to you and God bless you.
