Mark R. Oberman

It was my great privilege to know Mark, and to have him touch my life in so many positive ways. Mark is a great and wonderful man, a wise and compassionate healer, and a remarkable voice for love. His strength is as undeniable as his patience and consistent celebration of life. He is the most non-judgmental person I ever have known. I am the better for knowing him. A generous soul has touched and passed through my life, and for this I am thankful. I was fortunate enough to know Mark through his work at the Joshua Tree. He taught me how to begin to open my own heart even when pain was surrounding me. I will cherrish the time I spent with him for as long as I live.

Mark was a man of extraordinary light and compassion. He seemed to turn his illness into a healing for many others. His loss is painful. He would suggest we transform our grief into loving kindness for all beings. I will miss him, yet he lives in the joy of my heart. To all who have had the good fortune to be with him often, live also in the blessing of his memory. There were many of us who saw him infrequently and also cared deeply. Please accept my prayer of peace.

I was a patient at the Wellness Ctr for a little while and I really respected Dr Oberman. He was kind and he didn't treat me like I was crazy. I work at MJH in the Radiology dept and would see Mark when he came for tests. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I will miss Mark.

My heart goes out to Susan, and all of Mark's family. May your sorrow be lessened over time and by the knowledge that Mark's legacy lives on not only in you but also in the many lives he touched as he moved through this world.

Mark was my physician. I took a mindfulness course from him many years ago. He saved my life in 1997, when I went to see him for a sore throat; he saw a suspicious-looking mole on my back and sent me to Dr. Richardson, who said that it was skin cancer and then said, "Dr. Oberman saved your life." I wish I could have returned the favor. He will be an inspiration to me as long as I live.
