Dr Mark Owens, a remarkable man, an incredible surgeon, saved the finger of my young daughter that had been cut off accidentally at school. Forever grateful for his skill, concern and kindness. A gentle wonderful man. Cannot replace this man, the best of the best.

I worked with Dr Mark in surgery at American River Hospital for many years and he also performed emergency surgery on me years later. He was a phenomenal surgeon/physician. Compassionate always to all his patients. He will be missed by many.

Many condolences and love to the family. I would like to share my encounter with Dr. Owens. Over 26 years ago, when I was 5 1/2 months pregnant, Dr. Mark was called in to perform exploratory abdominal surgery on me. My ob/gyn had run out of tests to run to see what was going on. Dr. Mark saved my life and the life of my daughter that day. I will be forever grateful for not just his expertise, but his kindness and calming demeanor. Years later we were riding in the same elevator and I was able...

I first met Dr. Mark in the 1980's when I was a Fire Fighter and EMT volunteer in the Emergency room and continued a working relationship when employed as a Registered Nurse at MSJMC until my retirement in 2017. He was an excellent mentor when I worked in the intensive care units and trauma unit, and I respected him as a surgeon and physician. My nursing practice was greatly improved with my interactions with him and his teachings and advise. I appreciated his humor and how he treated staff...

I met Dr Mark in 1990 when I started working in MSJ OR as a surgery scheduler. That he was an excellent physician was widely known. To me, he was a daily presence and I had great affection for him from the start. I remember the banter between him and his brother, Dr Leon Owens. And their family stories. Dr Mark is the epitome of a life well lived. Rest well, sir.
