Mark Pool, 53, of East Garrison California, passed away on Wednesday, August 5th at work. A private memorial service will be held for family and friends. Mark was born in Antioch, California to Kermit and Carol Pool on January 4, 1967. He was married to his wife, Darcie, for 25 years, and they shared two beautiful children, Katie and Jeremy. Mark graduated from Antioch High school in 1985, earned his bachelor's degree in Accounting from San Francisco State University in 1990, and went on to earn his Master's Degree in Business and Information Systems from Auburn University in 2002. He worked as the Budge Officer for the US Army Defense Language Institute in Monterey for many years. He served in the US Army for 12 years where he earned many awards for his dedication. Mark was preceded in death by his father Kermit Pool. His memory will live on in the lives of his wife and his children, Mark dedicated his life to his family. There was nothing he wouldn't do for them. He was the best father and husband a family could ever ask for. He also leaves behind his Mom, Carol, who rightfully thought he hung the moon. In addition he leaves his beloved cat Sofie, and the world's best dog Riley. He will be remembered for his incomparable work ethic, his immense pride in Katie and Jeremy, his incredible intelligence, and his bone-dry sense of humor. He is also survived by mother and father in-law, Bob and Dianne; sister, Gail; sisters-in-law Jill (Brendan) and Amber (Paul); nieces and nephews: Jayse, Danielle (Matt), Rilynn, Eva, Grace, Raney, and CJ; aunt and uncles: Tom (Roxy), Dave (Ruth), his adored Sissy (Richard); many cousins; and "The Boys" from Marie Ave. Memorial donations can be made in Mark's name at the Monterey County SPCA, the Monterey County Animal Shelter; or an Animal Shelter of your choice. Mark loved animals and some might say he understood animals better than humans.

We miss you to next door

Rest In Peace, Mark. I appreciated your commitment to resolving things quickly and empowering workers with the tools they needed to produce the highest quality and volume of work that they could. The sign of a great boss like you is that one might not realize you were the boss because you were always so accessible and helpful. DLI lost a significant angel in August. My heartfelt condolences to your family and friends.

What a great loss to the world. He will be missed by so many.

Dear Darcie, Katie and Jeremy, I am so sorry to hear of the sudden loss of your beloved Mark. I know how much he meant to all of you. My heart and Prayers are with you and your family.

My prayers and heart go out to all of his family and friends

Mark was always such a great guy and willing to help! The news of his passing is shocking and deeply saddening. May God bless your family and friends during this time.

Sorry to her the passing of my former co-worker and friend. Though we worked together for a relativly short time, the memories will last a lifetime. Mark's laid back personality and his jokes, stories and wealth of local lore and knowledge gave me comfort during my stay in Cali. RIP and my deepest sympathy to his family.

I am truly sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. Mark Pool. Please accept my condolences. Mr. Pool always helped me for dealing with my DTS issues with calm and positive attitudes, especially when I felt helpless. Thanks again, Mark.

He was such a compassionate, intelligent and hardworking colleague. Also, his unique and very much appreciated sense of humor was a tremendous relief in the world of dry numbers and complicated budgets. I had the pleasure and honor of working with him off and on for the past 15 years, and each and every memory reminds me of a nice soul with limitless intelligence, passion for his work and care for others. Also not being born and raised here; I learned a bit about Baseball and Yogi Berra...
