Mark's fraternity brothers of the Gamma Sigma Chapter of Theta Chi at Duke University shared many great times and much comraderie with Mark over a few short years. May his memory be a blessing!

It is with a heavy heart that I endure the loss of one of my absolute favorite teachers from Kalani High School. I still remember him trying to avoid wasting the tropical fish he had used in his science class by cooking them in the classroom and recommending us to eat them. The Shanahans were neighbors in Virginia circa 1963 and due to the common Catholic /Irish heritage of our parents. Random events and birthday parties were interchanged as "kids would be kids" and seek playmates outside of the their respective multiple siblings. Mark was like a "good brother" to my younger brother Paul as they were equally matched in size &age. I extend my Aloha to all of the Shanahan Ohana.
