Send Flowers

Mark Christopher Trechter, of Manhattan, Kansas, born on July 16, 1959 in Topeka, Kansas, to the late Virginia Trechter and Henry Trechter, passed away at age 59 on October 10, 2018 in Chantilly, Virginia. From an early age and throughout his life he connected with people that others dismissed, saw their worth, and defended their value.

He received his undergraduate business degree from Kansas State University, becoming a CPA. Because of his life-long concern to understand people's background and motivations, including his own, he later obtained a master's degree in counseling psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. His desire to contemplate and understand his fellow humans along with his innate talent made him an excellent comic, quirky and dramatic writer.

Mark is survived by his brother Stephen Trechter and his wife Kathy, sisters Marilyn and Sara Trechter. He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews Katherine Alfaro, Samuel Trechter, James Truxon, Daniel Trechter, Benjamin Graham, Hannah Sistrunk and their families.

Family are making arrangements and request that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Hungry for Music to provide instruments to under served children and recognize the role of music as a sustaining force in Mark's life.

Not sure what to say?

As I read all the shared memories of Mark from friends and family. It is clear to me that the person I knew at a young age never changed. He was a true friend that always looked out for the people he was close to. We recently reconnected on Facebook and discussed some of the many special memories we had at a young age. He will be missed dearly and my condolences go out to the Trechter family.

I will miss him. My condolences to the extended Trechter family several of whom I have known, along with Mark's parents, Henry and Virginia, for seven decades.

I've known Mark for nearly 10 years, we worked together at EDS/HP and he always came in with a smile on his face and was able to bring laughter to the group. Even though I left the company over a year ago, Mark would continue to reach out and stay in touch. His positive energy and kind heart will be missed. My condolences and prayers to his family during this difficult time.

I am saddened to hear the news. Mark was a co-worker of mine who helped with my transition from active military service. He was a kind hearted human being who always made an effort to connect with people. He was always open to share his wisdom and knowledge with people around him to be better. We will all miss you, rest in peace.

Mark treated me with love and respect, he was kind loving and generous. Iam blessed to have him for a brother.

Mark has been my friend from the day I began work at DCAA in 1987. Mark and I have stayed in contact over the years and we shared stories about family, work, but mostly joked around. Mark had an excellent sense of humor and always kept me laughing. Mark will be missed by many, including me.

I am so sad to hear of Mark's leaving us. I remember him most as a young person, bright and fun, full of curiosity, riding bicycles.

Mark was a kind, gentle and thoughtful man with a quite spirit. His family and friends were of upmost important to him and he always made the effort to connect and spend his free time with them whenever he could. This was clearly a reflection of how near and dear they were to his heart.
At work he brought to us his knowledge and experience while working for the government that he so eagerly shared. He would often enlighten us of key changes in the regulatory environment or important...

Mark was a wonderful person, one of the kindest people I've ever known. I still can't believe he's no longer with us, but I'm also positive that he's now in a much better place. Wishing his family much comfort, and the peace of knowing that Mark indeed made this world a better place. God bless.
