Mark, was the king of breaking news stories for years at WWLP assignment desk and had the hunch. To this day, I would always call him with breaking tips that he appreciated. In 2002, I interned for him at WWLP under Brian Zelasko in the news department, with Brenda Garton news anchor and Dan Elias. Mark managed the assignment desk. My dream job. Mark and I were friendly "competitors" during his days at TV-22 and mine as a reporter/anchor at TV-40. He was a great guy, quick with a smile that was the trademark of his warmth and personable style. RIP, Mark. it was a privilege to know you. My condolences to the Wiernasz family. May you be comforted by the wonderful memories of your time together.

I am stunned to know of Mark's untimely passing. Mark was a good friend, we shared mutual passions of interest in music and broadcasting. I was honored to have Mark as the chief usher in my wedding many years ago. Although I have been away from the Pioneer Valley for decades I have fond memories of adventures we shared together.
