Last night I had an urge to look up Mark online and came to find this surprising and sad news. Mark was a friend of mine on Semester at Sea, and we stayed in touch for years. I am so sorry to hear of his death, and extend my good wishes to the entire family. I always have, and always will, remember him fondly. Sincerely, Heather St. George Gibson

Mark was a great friend of mine and my Pi Kappa Alpha big brother. We unfortunately lost touch when Mark transfered from Linfield to U of O. I have thought of him often over the years and wondered where his life path had taken him and am so sad to here of his passing. He had a fantastic personality which made him impossible to not like. Anyone who had the chance to have known Mark was truely fortunate to have spent some time with a one of the best.

I was sad to have heard the news, i met mark by working with his wife they were such a wonderful couple. I know he will be missed deeply but never will be forgotten.

To the entire Whittenberg family,

I believe I can speak for everyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting Mark, that you were quickly the better for knowing him. His warm greeting when he saw you was sincere, heartfelt and joyous.

I met Mark back in my San Marino days and frequently saw him throughout the years, usually with his great friend Billy Doll.

Dear Diane: The news of Marks passing came as quite a shock. Mark and I met at college and were members of the same fraternity. I will always remember his quick wit and fun loving nature. My sincerest condolences to you and your children.
