Not sure what to say?

I am just now finding this obituary 10 years later. I am sorry for your loss and spent a lot of time while I was growing up at 353 5th Avenue. I still wish I could stop in there once in awhile when I visit my parents. Marlene Herbert was a salt of the earth kind of person- easygoing in the best way. All of you Herbert's live in my heart.

To say that it has been difficult for me for to figure out exactly what to write here, would be a vast understatement. In my mind, Grandma was always a strong-willed and determined woman who couldn't be stopped when she knew what she wanted. She was an inspiration in the truth that you can accomplish almost anything if you put your mind to it. And she was just as devoted with family; she never forgot to send me and my kids holiday cards every year. She may not have gotten to see her great...

I would like to thank each of you for your condolences on the passing of my mother.
My mother had many fond and wonderful memories and stories of her life in Troy which she continually related to her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as reminisced with each of her children.
I remember each and everyone of you and really appreciate your entires in this guest book and the memories you each related.
A Post Script: I have been happily married for over 30 years to...

To the Family of Marlene,
Many years ago (early 60's) I worked with Marlene at the Old Leonard Hospital and later married her cousin, Jack McCabe Jr. I know I have met most of you over time but did not have the opportunity to get to know you very well. It saddens me that with the passing of, what I consider the adult, family members (Ralph, Uncle Bobby, Eva, Hazel and Helen we tend to loose contact with each other. Their generation was the glue that held us all together.

My sympathy...

Chuck and Kevin: My deepest condolences. I remember your Mom (and Dad)as such nice people. Thoughts and prayers to your family.

My deepest sympathy. We lived 2 doors from you on 7th many years ago and remember your Mother as a sweet and caring.

I have so many wonderful memories of my Aunt Marlene. I was so blessed to have grown up in such a close family and having such a wonderful person as an aunt. She was always so out going, strong and caring. Always there when you needed her I wish my daughter Emily had a chance to have known her better. I love you Aunt Marlene and am so sad you are no longer with us you will always hold a special place in my heart. Chuck, Kevin, Cathy, and Kristin I love you and thinking about you

Judy,
How sad I was to read of Marlene's passing. I remember her so well as the beautiful older sister, that we envied and wished we could be like.

May she rest in peace.

Love,
Pat Egan McSorley
