Joseph H. Brown Jr. Funeral Home P.A. Obituary

Today we come to celebrate the precious life of Marlene Denise Jones, a
delightful daughter of the late Lornden Rosebrough and late. Mildred
Rosebrough. Marlene is the fifth child of that loving union and was born on
Tuesday, February 12, 1957 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was preceded in
death by her beloved sister Vanessa "Ness" Gail Rosebrough.

Marlene received her formal education through the Baltimore City Public
School system and proudly graduated from Edmondson High School in 1975.
Later she attended the Baltimore City Community College.

On December 26, 1975, she married the late Melvin Butch Jones. Through
this union were born two wonderful children, Dante "Moe" Corey Jones and
Angela Linnea Jones.

Marlene had a very successful career at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center
(GBMC) for 33 years, where she held several job positions. She started in the
Housekeeping Department. Due to her high level of integrity, superb
organizational skills and excellent articulation, she was sought after by many
supervisors in various departments. As a result of her dedication, she was
offered numerous job transfers and promotions at GBMC. When she retired
there in 2012, she was a Senior Medical Secretary in their Genetics
Department. After her retirement, she volunteered at the Fishes & Loaves
Food Pantry in South Baltimore, where she lovingly served for three years.
She truly had a servant's heart.

As a child, Marlene began her Christian journey by attending The Shiloh
Christian Community Church. In 1990, she joined the New Psalmist Baptist
Church. She continued her spiritual growth as a member of the
Empowerment Temple and ultimately found her way back to The Shiloh
Christian Community Church. Some of her favorite inspirational songs were:

Every Praise, I'll Fly Away, I Understand, Jesus Can Work it Out, Praise Him in
the Morning, Steal Away, and Worth Saving.

Marlene loved to cook and entertain. She also loved to hand dance,
especially with her son. One of her favorite hobbies was decorating and
shopping for bargains. Often she joyfully spent time with her sisters,
daughter, grand kids, and nieces simply playing board games, laughing, and
going out with them to lunch or dinner.

She leaves to cherish her memory: 2 children Dante (Moe) Jones Sr. and
Angela (Jones) Arca; 2 grandchildren Dante Jones Jr. and Morgan Jones;

      1 daughter-in-law Roslyn Jones; 1 son-in-law Byron Arca Jr.; 8 siblings Jerry
Blackwell, Kenneth Lamont Rosebrough, Lawrence "Bubbles" Rosebrough,
Lornden Dewayne Rosebrough, Patricia Diane Barnes, Sylvia Matthews,
Sheila Rosebrough, and Veleria Wilkins; 3 sisters-in-law Adelaide Rosebrough,
Sylvia Rosebrough, and Vondella Blackwell; 5 brothers-in-law Andre Jones,
James Franklin Matthews, James Maurice Jones, Marvin Muse, and Otis
Barnes; lifelong friend Darlene Leggins; as well as countless nieces, nephews,
cousins, and friends who will miss her tremendously and love her always.
