Not sure what to say?

So sorry to hear about this loss. She was a fun, vibrant person, and I will miss bumping into her around town. She was a great friend.

My favorite

Marlene was one of a kind. I worked at SCSU in the Theatre department. She was always ready to help a student with any problem, no matter how big or small they could count on her. We had many laughs together. She enjoyed the Crescent player productions and always had something nice to say about the show, the director and most important the student actors. Love you lady.

Marlene was one of the warmest, wisest, funniest, and most wonderful people I have ever known. I had the honor of having Allison in one of my classes and I just want to send my very best wishes to the family. I am sure her spirit will live on in you forever.

My deepest condolences to Marlene's family. I have known Marlene since she began her career at SCSU. We laughed together many times over the years. I will miss her very much.

I am so sorry to hear of her passing. Marlene took care of us all when we were students back at Southern. She was the heart of the music department. Her door was always open to students. She was great at finding ways through the bureaucratic morass. It was thanks to her that I managed to take an advanced music course at the same time I was taking a required but (for me) boring basic course. And it was she who helped figure out a way for me to get a music minor when Southern added that my...

Don please Know that Marlene was loved and a wonderful person. May you and family know that you are blessed for being part of her life. May she rest in peace and you remember the good times
Larry Johnson, class of 64

I will always remember Marlene from the time I was a student at SCSU and during the time I taught in the music department for a few years. I am so sorry; she was much too young, and I didn't know she was ill. She kept things running in her job, and I remember from the time from before her children were born through the time she sent me a couple of facebook messages. God must need a good office manager! Blessings to all of you; she was a terrific person. I miss her so much! --Marilyn Newman

My thoughts and prayers are going your way, Cheryl and family. You are blessed to have shared Marlene as wife, mother, and grandma. Her spirit will always be smiling upon you. So very sorry she had to leave so soon.
