While I never met him, in a very challenging time in my life I found great solace in writing. I'm very sorry for your loss.

I read Marshall and admired Marshall long before I met him. It turns out he was as even more fun to know - a great talker, charming, insightful and a connoisseur of not only music, art, and visual culture but also of fashion. In short he was as interesting in real life as in his books, a rare combination. I will miss his presence on the Upper West Side and seeing him at numerous gatherings.
My condolences to Shellie, to Danny and to Eli.

It has been a great privilege and a great experience to have been his student. He was truly special and truly inspirational. I will always think of him and his remembrance will always bring me warm emotions. Best wishes to his family
