Martha Fontana Obituary

Fontana Martha L. Fontana, 83, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 under the care of Bradford House Nursing Home and Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Arkansas. Martha also known as "Marty" to her close friends, was born January 4, 1932 in Logan, Ohio to John and Grace Kline. She and her family lived in Obetz, Ohio. She and her children later relocated to Columbus. Martha worked sixteen years in the tax division for the City of Columbus Auditor's department and held a part-time job on the weekend. She was an American Red Cross volunteer in her early years. Everyone knew Martha as an independent, hard-working, selfless and devoted mother. She moved to Rogers, Arkansas to be near her children and continued to work part-time at Walmart, until she retired in 2005. She spent the last few years, volunteering in the shoe department at Helping Hands; a non-profit thrift store. It was a job she took great pride in; because she loved shoes and helping others. Her favorite pastimes, were solving crossword puzzles, watching "Law & Order" and taking drives to DQ for butterscotch ice-cream. She was a huge "Buckeyes" fan and longed to go back to her Ohio roots. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Grace and sister Shirley Mullins. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Vicki (Joe) Williamson, Brenda (Tom) Flemming-Studt and Michael (Marla) Fontana; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby (Bill) Rice, Linda (Tom) Hall, Betty (Steve) Payne; brother and sister-in-law, Larry (Shirley) Kline; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed. Arrangements made by ROLLIKNS FUNERAL HOME in Rogers, AR. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 28, at 11 a.m. at Fairview Memorial Gardens, 27841 Fairview Cemetery Rd., in Rockbridge, Ohio with Rev. Steve Bondurant of Fairview United Methodist Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Helping Hands, 320 Airport Rd., Bentonville, AR. 72712.

Martha was a great, hard working lady. She was always very nice to me when I use to be at her home with her daughter Vicki. My sympathy and prayers go out to her daughter Vicki, whom I was very close to when we were teenagers.
