Not sure what to say?

I've known Martie was a number of years. She always was genuine and greeted you with a smile as though she was waiting just for you to come in. She always remembered what it was I collected and often times would set something aside for me knowing I would be in and she could pull it out for my viewing. She loved her family and often talked about them. She will be missed in this community as well as outside of the area. To know Martie, was to be her friend. She never knew a stranger. Her...

We just today (August 31) learned of Martie's passing while on our weekly adventure of going to garage sales. That is how we were fortunate enough to know Martie. She was indeed a real treasure and how sad for her life to be cut short. She was a very special person, and our lives are better for having known her. We extend our sympathy and prayers to all of her family.

We didn't have a chance to know Martie for very long, but she brightened all of our days. Her spirit and determination were an inspiration to us, and taking care of her was a real joy.

We'll miss her!
The Memorial Family Medicine Residents

In Loving Memory of My Dearest Friend,Martie, who always welcomed a visit,as we would talk, hours would fly by.In her antique store of many treasures,it brought her great happiness to see the delight in us upon finding memories of days gone by. Always a smile on her face, trustworthy and kind hearted,I will truly miss her,she herself was the treasure, now treasure to our God in Heaven

Martie was so dear. I frequented her antique store in North Liberty often, and went there as much to chat with her as to browse the antiques and glean from her plethora of knowledge. She talked so often and lovingly of her Whitney. I had tears when I learned of her passing, tears for her loss and tears recalling how she came to my garage sale at the beginning of summer, just weeks ago. She was obviously very, very ill but her halting walk was one of pride and interest in the other...

Marty was the sweetest, most sincere person ever. She helped me through my pregnancy with my youngest, Kyle (now 16) who we knew would be born prematurely. She helped in so much to understand and to be prepared for a premature birth and baby. I couldn't have gotten through that rough time without her. She would run and get me taco bell when I was told to stay in bed 24/7 and would check in on my other children. She even let me borrow Kyle's first outfit - it was an outfit from one of...

Martie was wonderful to care for when she was here as a patient. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Martie was a friend and a blessing to so many people. She will be missed by all. Pat & Whitney please take care of each other. Always here if I can help.

Martie was one of the nicest, most sincere people I knew. She would always keep me in mind when she went hunting and would save what she knew I was looking for just for me. I would go into the "old" store and she would almost always have a new old fabric baby book waiting for me. She made a jar full of old buttons for me just because I had mentioned one time I would like to have one. She loved to talk about her family and how much she enjoyed having so many family members. She always would...
