Martha was a driving force behind her husband in all ways. We won our 1977 National Championship behind the coaching of Badger Bob and the nurturing of Martha. When asked, where I wanted my seats at the Coliseum , after I was done playing, I had no idea. But I figured Martha had the best seats in the house , where her legendary cow bell rang out, so I asked for tickets in her section on Saturday Night. RIP Martha, our whole 1977 team will miss you and remember you fondly.

Judy and I were saddened to hear of the passing of Martha Johnson. She was a fixture at Badgers hockey games with her support and attendance and her famous cowbell ringing through out the Dane County Coliseum. I was especially close to Martha and Bob since I was the play by play announcer for Badgers hockey from 1968 to 1973 and was thrilled to be part of their first NCAA championship in 1973 after which I joined the Los Angeles Kings.
