Martha Elizabeth Hunt Mackie

It was such a pleasure to know Martha. George and my husband were Guilford College roommates and gave me the gift of knowing Martha. To her large and loving family, please accept my (belated) condolences. I know she lives in your heart forever. And thank you for the beautiful obituary, so perfect.

I was blessed to have known Martha. She was a special woman in a special family. My wife, Bambi and I will keep George, Ashland, Allison, Amy, and their families and friends in our thoughts and prayers.

George, as a fellow widower, I can sympathize with you better than I wish I could. As time rolls by, you may discover, as I did, that you loved your wife even more than you were aware. Lifelong love is expensive; we pay for it in the grief we suffer after a loss. I know you'll pull through though, and my prayers are with you and your family.
