Today I called to check on Martha. Have been thinking about her so much. Hadn't visited her in a long time. I got cancer and was very sick for a long time. Then Covid came along and I couldn't go. I loved Martha. We were "partners" in animal rescue. When she was in the hospital, I felt it a privilege to stay with her. Just loved her sense of humor and we had some good times together in person and long phone chats as well. So sorry that I didn't know at the time of her passing. Thanks, Rita...

Martha, my aunt, and I shared many happy memories. In the early 40's, Martha played women's softball with Betty Dillahunt, a friend throughout Marth's and my life. In the 50's, Martha managed a women's softball team named the Springfield Merchants and won the tournament. Her players were my sister, Sandy, Phyllis Pappert (Garlough), Anna Sherwood, Nancy Sherwood, Jan Sterling, Greta Nichols, Judy Walls, Louise Love, Sandy Millice, Barb Ropp, and Sandy Brandenburg. Martha loved and cared for so many animals in her home and at the AWL farm for many years. She had such a loving heart for all creatures. May she truly rest is peace.
