Martha Jackson Thigpen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on August 24 in Gunter, Texas, Martha lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to her family and church.


In her personal life, Martha was a devoted wife, mother to four children and a proud grandmother to thirteen grandchildren. She cherished the moments spent with her family, creating lasting memories filled with joy and laughter. Martha’s nurturing nature and unconditional love were a source of strength and inspiration to her loved ones.


Martha is survived by her husband of 34 years, Hubert Thigpen, her sister: Helen Matheson,  her children and their spouses: Russ and Linda Melvin, Ric and Jose Melvin Barbato, Andy and Cathie Melvin, Jennifer and Eric Swann, Kim Thigpen,  Trent and Kristna Thigpen, Deidre Jaworski, Dawn and Trey McCord and her grandchildren: Blair and Justin Kaiser, Landon Swann, Amanda Combs,  Wade Combs, Mikaila Woodard and Joshua Black; thirteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.


A celebration of Martha's life will be held on:  Friday, January 24, 2025, at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.  The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. with the service to follow at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Georgia Harrison, officient.  Interment will be at Crestview Memorial Park.

Martha Jackson Thigpen will be deeply missed but her warm spirit, infectious smile will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
