I fondly remember going to Bayboro Books and all the wonderful and sweet ladies who made that store so special: Martha Wallace, Sally Wallace, Marion Ballard, and Maryann Rucker. As a life-long reader, their store was one of my favorite places to visit when downtown. I also remember her son David from the Boy Scouts (Troop 204), her son Jim from SPHS, and her father-in-law from Sunset Country Club, now so many years ago. One of the fondest memories of my 90 years is the service I shared with Marty on the Pinellas County School Board. I too defeated the "Parents Against Forced Busing" school board candidate 4 years after Marty did so. Those were very turbulent times and the board was often guided and persuaded by Marty's intellect and "soft touch". She helped me become a more thoughtful person and a much better board member. I have kept in touch for the past 47 years and will miss her greatly. Win Dermody ...
