Dear Alvarez Family and All of Martin's Friends,

My wife Elissa and I were saddened by the unfortunate news of Martin's death and we want to convey our deepest condolences to the entire family and all his dear friends.

I met twice with Martin, and we spoke for several hours, when he first moved to Boston. Martin called me out of the blue to discuss the possibility of working together in our tropical plant business. Martin and I immediately hit it off very well and I...

I had the privilege and pleasure of knowing Martin for too brief a time, after his move to Boston. I will always remember his joy at life and its adventures, his hopeful nature, his dignity. His brave and generous spirit remain an inspiration.

My deepest sympathies to the Alvarez family; Martin is missed by so many.

I just found out about Martin's passing. I knew Martin since elementary school, lost touch with him in middle school, but caught up again with him in high school. My depeest condolences to Martin's family.

Our Deepest Codolences, To The Alvarez Family, Martin will go to Heaven with all his Great talent to continue and Paint the Gardens with his love in flowers..
Good Bye Your Friends At
De Vinnie's Paradise Florist

Marty and I have been friends since we were 12 years old. We went to the same middle school and high school. After high school, we got together often and had a tremendous amount of fun. He and I both enjoyed eating, dancing and laughing. I have many great memories. Although, as he grew to be an adult. He asked not to be called "Marty" anymore.I needed to refer to him as Martin. I told him "Fat chance on that happening!, there had to be 2 Marty's. (He and I) So, I continued to call him his...

I just found out about Martin's passing. Martin and I were close friends in high school. He did my flowers at my wedding over six years ago and did a wonderful job. Martin, even though I haven't talked to you since my wedding, I will miss your smile, your sense of humor, and your zest for life. My deepest condolences to your family.

To Irene and Family,
I will always remember my last phone call from Martin;knowing he was dying, and we talked for a long time. It was an honor to know he cherished our friendship; for over 20 years!! I am happy to have met your parents, and had a lot of laughs in the floral business here in Tampa.
And lastly, our reunion at the Rose Bowl FTD Float 2009. I am so happy my husband took me there for our 20th anniversary!!
I hope to stay in touch with you.

I had the pleasure of working with Martin at Webber's Florist. He was an amazing floral designer who was very generous in sharing his vast knowledge of flowers. Martin always had a smile on his face and could make everyone around him laugh - he will be missed by all who knew him! My thoughts and prayers are with the Alvarez family.

To Martin's Family,

As President of the Acton Garden Club, I wish to express our deepest sympathies for your loss. Martin's friendly smile and creativity will be missed by everyone.

On our Club's website, there is a wonderful group photo, including Martin, of all who attended the Club's 2009 Annual Meeting and 75th Anniversary celebration luncheon in April on the day I became Club President. I will always remember that Martin gave a daffodil blossom to each member there....
