My wife and I were with Rabbi Applebaum in Korea in 1991-1993. He supported my efforts as Army Science Advisor to test and accept the Kosher MRE's. I was looking for him this day and sadly find he has departed.

Rabbi Applebaum was our Rabbi while we were stationed at Fort Lewis Washington. He was a leader, a champion of Jews in the military. I will never forget his advocating for Jews during the gulf war. He was a force of nature! Thanks to him, we now have kosher MRE"s, are given consideration for things like wearing a kippah, and to many to count. I hope his memory, and the memory of how hard he worked for his people is a source in inspiration to all who knew him.
