I am so sorry to hear of the passing of the extraordinary Martin Canin. He was a kind man, with a wonderful smile and sense of humor. A great colleague. My condolences to his family and his many students.

Martin Canin was a wonderful teacher and mentor. He not only helped to improve my musical and pianist skills, but also helped me to realize that playing concerts was not the only way to enjoy a life in music. My sincere condolences to his family on the loss of a great man.

February of 2018 after some Brahms

Mr. Canin was my teacher at Stony Brook through my Master's and Doctoral degrees. I went back to NYC on many occasions to play for him, and I shall miss is astute comments and wonderful wit!
