Martin and I were Phi Delt fraternity brothers, although he was a senior, and a member of an exceptional class, when I was a freshman. I followed him into law, graduating from KU Law School and teaching at Michigan Law School. My entire career was spent in Los Angeles but I kept in touch with Martin through the years when I was in Lawrence or on a couple of occasions when he was in Los Angeles on business. It was always a delight to see him.
