Please accept my sympathy on the loss of your uncle, Marty. I worked for Marty many years ago, selling lofts for him in New York. He was delightfully impossible. I know he will remain in the hearts of many who he helped along the way.

Martin Fine was my client and friend. We met in 1994 at a time when he needed litigation counsel on a myriad of issues. Through our many hours spent together strategizing, defending, prosecuting litigations in most of the Courts in New York County, we developed a mutual respect for one another which developed into a friendship.

Although we hadn't seen each other in many years our families did share many happy times when we were young. Your grandmother Lilly Greenwald Fine and my mother Greta Klein Browne were first cousins. I even took both of you to the movies when you were young and visiting your grandparents in Brooklyn. So many years have gone by since I saw Marty last, but...

I knew Martin through his real estate dealings in East Hampton. We spent many hours searching East Hampton for investments. I got to know him as an astute appraiser of properties and whether he bought or not, he always let me know why he made the decision he made. I was involved in his only purchase and sale during the 1993-2005 period. Where we agreed to disagree was in the arena of politics.
